Join us on a challenging ,but fun expedition around the Sandy Hook area. We start out on the waters of the bay and work clockwise. We ply the the infamous rip at the tip, and then on to a surf landing for lunch. Then it’s back out via a surf launching for the continuation of our journey to our starting point for a 9mile circumnavigation of Sandy Hook.
You must be a member in good standing of LVKCC to participate.
This is an advanced intermediate to expert trip given the nature of the currents and surf landing/ launching conditions. A 14 foot boat is the absolute minimum type of kayak. Knowledge of rescue skills is a must as these are open waters with current.
PFD’s, paddle floats, bilge pumps, and spray skirts are required. Bring a lunch, snacks, hat, sunglasses, and plenty of liquid refreshment.
We will meet at the second parking lot on your right (parking lot ‘C’ ) after you enter the park.
Will post the evening before if the weather conditions are incompatible with a safe paddle.
