Canoeists and expedition kayakers,
I'm organizing a trip to the Allagash Wilderness Waterway in Maine. The date has not been set but I am looking at early September and either a 5 or 7 day on water trip. That means 2 days travel up and 2 days travel back. Figuring a day of cushion, it's looking like 11-12 day committment. The cost would be conditional to travel expenses, permit fees, shuttle fees, and food. We might even consider a guide, but that is open for debate amongst the group. I'm looking at 8- 10 people. Eight being the least if we are all are in canoes giving us 4 boats at the least. Experienced paddlers would be preferred but certainly a couple beginners spread out amongst experienced would be ok for this level of paddling. The first half is large lake and mild river paddling. The second half is mostly river with some class 2+ rapids in one 7-9 mile stretch. We can talk how we would handle the logistics once we have interested people. Dan Remp and I have extensive experience organizing adventure trips with scouts and High School groups on adventures like this. Therefore, if you would have a serious interest in taking a trip like this, please contact me at schultejim@yahoo.com or call me at 215-802-1974. We will be planning some over night trips to get to know the skill level and camping ability of the potential participants. I'm looking at using the Upper Delaware for these trips. Those interested, Dan Rempp is organizing a paddle on Blue Marsh Saturday May 15th. I would recommend we join him as a practice run for our training towards the 92 miles we will be doing on the Allagash.

There were 9, now there are 3. Is anyone available to paddle the Allagash Waterway by canoe between Sept. 7 and Sept. 18th, 2010? Contact me at 215-802-1974 or schultejim@yahoo.com ASAP.

Do to situations beyond my control, this trip has been canceled. Maybe I will try again next year since I have all the gear and maps to go. Anyone interested in doing it in August or September of 2011?
