Chesapeake Lite
LVKCC 2018 Spring Sea Kayak Trip
Camp Letts, Maryland
May 18-21
Join us on our annual spring sea kayaking trip to a beautiful inlet on the
Chesapeake Bay.
We’ll stay at Camp Letts on the Rhode River, just south of Annapolis, where wooded shorelines surround storybook waters. We’ll paddle and explore places such as Fox Creek, Locust Point, Railroad Run, Cattail Branch and even Frog Canyon. For those who want to experience the open waters of the Chesapeake, there will be an expedition paddle out to Thomas Point Light – the bay’s most famous and most photographed lighthouse. Another paddle will take the group into the West River, which leads to Galesville where waterfront restaurants offer traditional Chesapeake fare. And across the river from Camp Letts is the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, which has miles of nature trails.
Camp Letts is a YMCA facility. The camp overlooks 219 acres of rustic
riverfront, with three islands and 2600 acres of preserved woodland.
Breakfast and dinner will be served in Fisher Hall. Sleeping will be camp
style on bunks in the Quartermaster Lodge. Cost will be based on the number of attendees. We hope to keep the total cost around $100.00 each.
