The meeting opened with introductions from each member of the Executive Committee present at the event.
A list of upcoming 2018 sea kayak events was announced:
- Chesapeake (Camp Letts) – – May 19-22
- Brigantine NJ (camping & cabin accommodations) – – September 21-24
- Manhattan – – TBD
Eric Schweitzer announced the 2018 Beginners Series begins April 28. Eric has a list of support boaters committed for each date. In order to limit the size of the group and have an adequate beginner-to-experienced ratio, it’s requested that only students and support staff scheduled for that date participate in the trip.
Eric also announced he will continue to organize the Tuesday Night at the Little Lehigh events beginning around the first week in May and continuing through the summer. These are informal practice sessions and no signup is required to attend. The sessions begin around 6:30 pm.
Dan Rempp announced the 2018 Larry March Slalom will take place on the 2nd weekend in September on the Little Lehigh in Allentown. Consider participating and/or helping in this year’s event. Come out and support your Club.
Scott Douglass announced the 2018 Intermediate Series locations and dates. Notifications will be posted on both Meet-up and Facebook. Please see the prerequisites for participating in these classes or contact Scott for more information.

Scott also mentioned the last Moving Water pool session would be a “Skills Regatta”. The pool is open to all club members that want to participate or assist with the event. There is no cost to participate and even less to help. Come out and support your Club.
Jim Schulte gave a brief introduction on the National Canoe Safety Patrol (NCSP) organization and that they are welcoming new members at the annual spring training event scheduled for May 5th, 6th and 7th at Luke’s Landing in Minisink, New York. Jim also gave an overview of Team River Runner and the opportunities available for volunteers with that organization.
