Charles Lockett and I will lead a novice run on the Mongaup Creek, which is Class II/III. This is a one-tube release, which means the water won’t be very pushy, but there will be a lot of rocks that require maneuvering around.
You must be a current member of LVKCC, and have experience paddling in Class II+ water. Specifically, you should have run the Upper Lehigh (or comparable) several times and feel comfortable catching eddies, peeling out, and ferrying on it.
We will meet at the DEC parking lot at 10:00 a.m. and then arrange our reverse shuttle to get gear and people to the put-in for the 11:00 a.m. release. We will hope to run the creek twice, stopping for a quick lunch in between.
We can take a few people on first descents, however you must message Charlie or me through Meetup to confirm that your experience is sufficient.
