June 30 – Paddle the Fife Brook Section of the Deerfield River, in western MA. This is mostly a class 2 section. Beginners who have done the upper Lehigh will find the Deerfield a great place to practice ferrys, eddy turns, surfing and peel outs. One class 3 rapid, Zoar Gap, can be easily scouted and portaged. The run is about 6 miles. You can paddle to the private campground, Mohawk Park, right on the river, in Charlemont, MA. Phone:[masked]. Participants must make their own camping reservations.
