The last class for 2020 will be held on the Tohickon, Sunday November 8th. The first-timers trip for Saturday is filled.
The Instruction and Education Committee report will be completed soon. The Education Committee will meet in December, via Zoom, to plan next year’s classes.
Main Topics
Pool Sessions
Lafayette has contacted Linda A. Martin with updated guidelines for using their pool this winter. They will limit the pool to 12 people and not allow the use of locker rooms or class rooms. Cabanas to change in would be provided and single occupancy bathrooms would be available.
The members present discussed the cost of the pool rental, considering the limited number of users. Safety for club members, especially when the number of covid cases are rising, was also discussed.
A motion was made to not pursue pool options this year.
MP – Dave Dawson MS – Gery Kirkner P – Majority O – None
Pat’s Pond
Pat’s Pond will possibly be the location for the 2021 Intro classes. It was used to make up the missed classes this past spring. The pond has a clay bottom. The addition of sand was suggested for a portion of the pond, so instructor can stand in the water. Pat Beltz has heavy equipment that can be used to perform the work. She is asking the club to purchase the sand.
The Education Committee will discuss the use of Pat’s pond, and the addition of sand at their upcoming meeting.
Barnegat Bay Trip
The Barnegat Bay trip was a successful trip overall. On one outing, EMS was called because of hypothermic paddlers. The EMS vehicle was used as a warming station. The responding EMS company was a volunteer company, and they did not bill the club for their services. The executive committee members voted to send them a $200 donation.
Holiday Party
A motion was made to change the traditional holiday party to an outdoor gathering at Lehighton Outdoor Center on December 5th.
MP – Pat Beltz MS – Dave Dawson P – Majority O – None
