The meeting opened with a presentation by Team River Runner (TRR) members Mary Giorlando, George White, Pat Beltz, Heather Chickowic, Gery Kirkner, Larry Palmer and Jim Schulte from their recent ACA Adaptive Paddling Workshop, instructed by Joe Moore and Kevin Carr. The workshop covered aspects such as boat outfitting, cockpit design, paddle customization and other considerations to best meet the needs of each respective participant. Attendees learned how to better associate with people with disabilities and relate to them as individuals. Special equipment and safety considerations as well as rescue techniques for people with various levels of disability were discussed and demonstrated. Laura (???), one of disabled participants in the workshop, shared her experience and the impact TRR and its members had on her life. All of the members graduated with an ACA Certification in Adaptive Paddling. Congratulations participants and TRR Lehigh Valley for earning the honor of being the largest TRR adaptive paddling group in the country.

Meeting minutes from the September General Membership meeting were approved and posted to the website. Members were asked if there were any corrections or additions required. A motion was put forth to accept the September 2018 minutes as written.

Larry Palmer presented Dave Dawson’s LVCC Financial Report for September 2018.
Club expenses for the month totaled $4,595.36.

- 1244 Lafayette College – 50% pool deposit 3,814.00
- Constant Contact – annual fee 481.96
A motion was put forth to accept the September 2018 Financial Report as presented.

Membership Secretary Report
Dan Rempp presented the following membership statistics:
- 332 individual dues paying members (-1)
- 216 families represented (+0)
- 1402 members on Facebook (+35)
- 986 members on Meetup (+13)
Dan Rempp reported that the club website is averaging 3000 visitors and over 37,000 hits per month and website activity is increasing after the recent redesign of the site.
Education Committee Report
Scott Douglas announced the following upcoming intermediate instruction trips.
- Lower Yough – last weekend October
- Toh Fest – first weekend November
The Education Committee is holding a meeting on November 9 at the TriBoro Sportsmen Club and will have a full report for the following General Membership meeting.
Hospitality Committee Report
Bob Brunda confirmed December 7th as the date of the 2018 Holiday Party to be hosted at the Tri-Boro Sportsmen Club in Northampton. A menu from Mission BBQ and other details are still being arranged. More information will be forthcoming at the November General Membership meeting
Larry March Slalom Report
The 2018 Larry March Slalom was held at the Little Lehigh Park on September 8. There were a total of 24 participants completing 37 starts. Race expenditures roughly matched revenues.

Great Bay Report
Sheldon Linn presented experiences from the September 21 trip. Twenty-two members participated on the trip which explored various waterways located near Sea Pirate Campground in NJ.
Larry Palmer indicated that the committee discussed recommendations for changing the term of the fiscal reporting year and other suggestions. The Committee will present a complete report at the November General Membership meeting.
Coastal Kayaking – Level 3 Certification
The ACA Level 3 certification course Cie Stroud was scheduled to attend but was cancelled due to water conditions has been rescheduled and will take place at Beating The Bump in Surfwater Florida.
Winter Pool Sessions – Lafayette
Reservations were finalized with Lafayette College to host the 2019 Pool Sessions. The college offered the club a 10% loyalty discount off the original contract price. Total fees for the 1029 pool rental is $7628.
Bob Brunda announced this year’s Walnutport Festival will take place Sunday, October 23 at the Walnutport Canal Association. Setup will begin around 9:30 am and activities start at 12 noon. Volunteers are still needed to help with this event and can choose to work the entire day or just a few hours. Contact Bob Brunda for more information or come to the festival on the 23rd to volunteer.
Nominations – Slate of Officers
Nominations for open officer positions are presented by the prior term club President. No nominations were offered at this meeting
Scott Douglas announce the 2019 trip on the Allagash River will take place the last week of July. The 7 day tandem canoe trip explores mostly flat water and some L1 moving water features and is limited to 6 boats. Two openings are currently available for this trip. Contact Scott for information or to request sign-up for the trip.
Paddler of the Year
Linda Martin made a recommendation to post the names of prior year Paddler of the Year award recipients on the club website
2019 Pool Sessions Payments
A recommendation was made to eliminate prepayment for individual pool sessions. Individuals not intending to pay for all 13 sessions will need to pay at the door.
Moving Water Course Description
A suggestion was made to update the description of the Moving Water class to include information about The Beginners Series continuing instruction at the culmination of pool classes. Information about what’s involved without announcing a schedule of dates will be included.
Linda Martin offered a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:50 pm.
