Membership Report. Dan Rempp reported we gained 4 new members today. We have 233 dues paying members (comprised of 146 families). Facebook has 838 registered viewers, and Meetup has 559 followers; however note that not all are paying members. Last Friday at LL Bean’s Promenade store in Center Valley, PA club members Larry Palmer, Linda Martin, and Scott Douglas provided a club PowerPoint presentation which gave our club some additional visibility to potential members.
Webmaster’s Report. Dan Rempp indicated he has not heard any recent feedback, so he assumes all is well; no known issues. Scott D commented that some people only have access to the website for club news; not Facebook or other social media sites. Dan will post Eric’s list of whitewater trips and a list of recreational trips.
Intermediate Series. Scott Douglas indicated a Mongap trip is in the planning stages. He will post information on Facebook. He will also consider doing a roll class based on group interest.
Recreational Series Skills Refresher. Dan Rempp held an event last weekend at Mauck Chunk lake. He reported that they had a good turnout. He emphasized the correct way to display the boat permits. You get 2 stickers; one to be placed on each side of the boat.
Dan spoke on the recent issues the club has had at the parks. In order for the club to hold a club sponsored event at Lake Nockimixon paperwork must be completed and pay a fee. Dan indicated more information is needed to be obtained on the specifics that they require. Until then, be specific in noting our informal gatherings are not club sponsored when posting interest on our social media sites.
Youth Program. The next event is scheduled to be held this Sunday at Round Valley, Lebanon, NJ. Volunteers are welcome.
Leaser Lake/TRR Program (Team River Runner). Jim Schulte provided an update on the program geared originally for injured Veterans which has expanded to included civilians requiring adaptive paddling assistance. They have teamed up with Good Shepherd. At the first session at Leaser Lake they had 10 attendees paddling in boats. The initial focus has been on recreational paddling, but will include white water in the future. Jim indicated the following:
· The VA is interested in providing a donated trailer and donated boats.
· The program needs additional volunteers.
· George White raised $200,000 toward the program
· The ACA has a certified trainer program for Adaptive Paddling
· For additional information email Jim at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Lehigh Sojourn 2016. Don Harris spoke on the upcoming Lehigh River educational event. Starting June 21st they could use land crew volunteers. Volunteers should contact Diane Motel at the Wildlands Conservancy.
Youth Canoe Day. To be held June 18th. Members Pat Beltz and Bob Brunda plan to volunteer. The event teaches kids how to canoe and proper boating safety.
· See Website Forums page, also Facebook & Meetup sites (Lehigh Valley Kayak & Canoe Club) for current trip postings.
