CLASSES

LVKCC offers an intensive teaching program that covers whitewater kayaking, sea kayaking, recreational kayaking and other kayaking skills.  Classes start in the winter with indoor pool training and continue through the season. on creeks, rivers, lakes and bays.  All classes are led by American Canoe Association certified instructors with years of experience in kayaking and teaching. The schedule for these events is announced in the late fall.
Whether you are new to the sport or have experience and want to improve your skills, the club has sessions to fit almost any paddler's  needs. Some courses run for several days--typically spread over several weekends; others are set up as one-day clinics.

Recreational Kayaking

Have a kayak, but never took lessons?

We offer a two-day class for recreational boaters, with an additional day trip on the water for the group as part of the fun.  With certified instructors as your guides, we cover useful topics such as; types and parts of a kayak, paddles and how to choose one, and transporting a kayak safely.  We teach you safety on the water, different strokes and when to use them, and why to wear certain kinds of clothing, and when.  We will put you in your boats to enjoy your new knowledge, with instructors present to give you the confidence to try new things. You will make new friends to paddle with in the future, and find club trips you can join as you grow in the sport.

The class will probably be early June, 2025 on a weekend.
