Equipment needed: white water kayak, paddle, PFD, spray skirt, and helmet.

Cost: $200

This multi-week pool class is designed for anyone who wishes to learn to kayak on rivers from Class I to Class III.

The course is held on weekends starting in January.

Each session is four hours divided equally between classroom and the pool.

No previous experience is necessary.

The club has some loaner equipment for students who need it.

Topics such as boat types, gear, clothing, paddle strokes, river features, knots, river safety, fitness, edging, bracing, assisted and self rescues, and rolling will be covered.??The class is intended to be followed by our Beginners Series of river trips, where students will paddle progressively more difficult sections of the Lehigh River.

LVKCC Pool sessions begin January 11. Lafayette College Weinstein Natatorium. Doors open at 5 PM. Everyone must be out of the building by 9 PM. You must be a member of the LVKCC to attend. No children under 13. Helmets, and PFDs are required. Clean your boats inside and out. Remove float bags and all gear. Boats will be inspected before they go in to the pool. Showers and locker rooms are available. Fee is $15 cash or check no credit cards
